THE IMMACULATE’s 13th Annual Teacher’s Day Celebration – The bestowing of The Teachers Excellence Award 2017 upon those in the noble profession.

Teachers play a major role in influencing and moulding a child's life as children in their formative and impressionable years spend a lot of time at school. Whatever a child learns at this time stays with him all his life.
In India, Teachers' day is also celebrated as Teachers' Appreciation day and National Teachers Day on the 5 September every year, which is the birthday of the Former President of India, the late Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, All over the world, Teacher's Day celebrations are undertaken to appreciate and honour teachers for their contribution to society as well as for imparting knowledge, guiding and shaping the minds and careers of students.
Mrs Debie Avilaa Westcott the foundress of THE IMMACULATE honours directors of educational institutions, school principals, teachers, special educators, Soft skills trainers, Professors and lecturers with the Teachers’ Excellence Awards every year in order to recognize the services of those in the noblest profession-Teaching.
The students at THE IMMACULATE, Adyar, Chennai paid allegiance to their teachers by celebrating Teacher’s Day on the 5th of September 2017. This is the 13th Annual Teacher’s Day Celebration of the institute which right from its inception in 2005, has been honouring those who have strived to impart quality education to mould responsible citizens with THE IMMACULATE Teachers Excellence Award every year. The celebrations began at 4 pm with a special prayer invoking the Almighty’s blessings followed by the Teacher’s Prayer.
This was followed by the Awards Ceremony. Mrs. Debbie Westcott, the foundress honoured Dr. Uma Sivaraman, Retd. Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidya Sangathan who presided over the ceremony as Chief Guest with THE IMMACULATE’s Special Teacher’s Excellence Award 2017 for Chief Guest. An award for Special Guest of honour was bestowed by Ms.Debbie on Dr.Bryan Peppin.
The Chief Guest, honoured the following recipients with the most prestigious award, “THE IMMACULATE’s Teachers Excellence Award 2017”, for their valuable contribution to the teaching profession - Dr.J.Mangaiyarkarasi - Associate Professor of English at Ethiraj College for Women Chennai, Ms.G. Sumathy - Assistant Professor Information & Technology Department at Jeppiaar Engineering College Chennai, Dr.G.Kalvikkarasi - Associate Professor & HOD of English at DRBCCC Hindu College Chennai, Dr. R. Venkateswari - Assistant Professor -Department of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Madras, Ms.Madhu Gambhir -Vice Principal of Vaels International School Chennai, Ms. Vijayalakshmi Sultan –HOD Hindi at Chettinad Vidyashram Chennai, Mr. A.Veeradhas – Science Teacher at Anna Gem Science Park Chennai, Ms. Aparna Palanivelu – Special Educator at Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts & Science for Women Chennai.
